May 5th ✙ Third Sunday of Easter

Readings for May 5th, 2019

THE RESTORATION OF PETER : In spite of the fact that he denied Him, Jesus did not write off Peter but confirmed him as chief shepherd . Jesus does not write us off when we ail. He gives us a chance to cancel out our failures by love.
Lord Jesus, restore life to all who sink into the grave of remorse and despair. Lord, have mercy. Your favor lasts all life long. Christ, have mercy.
You change your mourning into dancing by your loving forgiveness. Lord, have Mercy.

Reflections

Believing in People

It can happen that we lose interest in people,
and even become blind to their strengths,
when we discover their limitations.
During His passion, Jesus discovered the limitations of Peter. Yet, He didn't write him off.
He continued to believe in him,
and in time, he became good.
Like Peter, we are weak human beings
who are inconsistent in our beliefs.
We need someone to understands our weaknesses, who realizes that it may take time for us to overcome them, and who doesn't write us off because we don't produce the goods at once.

Peace is the Message of Easter

The main message of Jesus after His resurrection is the message of peace. “Peace be with you!” When the angel appeared to the women on Easter morning at the tomb of Jesus, the angel said to them: “There is no need for the tomb of Jesus,” the angel said to them: “There is no need for you to be afraid. Be at peace! Jesus has risen from the dead.” And when Jesus appeared to those women, he also said to them: “Be at peace. Do not be afraid.” When Jesus appeared to the Apostles on Easter Sunday evening, He also said to them: “Peace be with you!” The Apostles were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and when Jesus saw their joy and peace, He said to them again: “Peace be with you!”
Peace is the love of Jesus in our worries, in our depression and in our sins. Peace will always be increased by the attitude of our soul if it is penetrated with love. This can be done by getting rid of all our meaningless suspicions, and by showing love for God, and all our brothers and sisters. Most certainly we should pray for Peace during the Easter Sundays, for Peace is the harmony and the gift of God.

Why Do Catholics Do That ?

Why is May Mary’s month?
May is spring and spring is growth in everything. In spring , Mary sees that all things are rosy, all things are growing. She is sympathizing with that world of growth which is nature’s motherhood. May is spring, spring is motherhood, and so is Mary. She is the mother of the Lord and magnifies and reflects Him in her life. Because of nature’s motherhood, spring is universal happiness, and so is Mary.
May is Mary’s month because both May and Mary are the mothers of life.
Rejoice! We are full of Joy in this month of May, for it is the happiest thing that our eyes have seen – in Spring and in Mary!
