Collection Next Weekend

Next week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right now over 40% of dioceses in the United States are considered mission territory because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work in their communities. Your support of this appeal eases the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal.

Why Do Catholics Do That?

Easter and Easter Egg
Easter usually occurs toward the beginning of spring, a season when plants bloom and animals give birth. Egg is a symbol of new life, rebirth and fertility. And so Easter Eggs are often associated with Easter, celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is sometimes referred to as “resurrection eggs.”
Two legends that surround the origin of the Easter eggs. One relates it back to Simon of Cyrene who was supposed to be an egg merchant. When Simon helped Jesus to carry the cross, he left his basket with eggs by the roadside and returning he found all of them brigthly colored. A reward for a good deed. Another one traces the Easter eggs back to Mary who supposedly brought eggs to the soldiers stationed at the foot of the cross. The blood of the Lord flowed down and colored the eggs.
